As a wheel builder at FFWD, Edwin is responsible for selecting the right spokes, hubs and rims, ensuring that each wheel is built with the perfect spoke tension.
For Edwin, the working day starts with a cup of coffee and a brief consultation on the production planning, after which he prepares the parts for the wheels to be made that day. While he prepares the wheels for machine construction, there is always room for a joke with colleagues or a game of table tennis. They also regularly follow cycling races together from the workplace.
Edwin aspires to become a master wheel builder and also wants to be all-round employable in other departments within FFWD. At home, he has a nice collection of four bikes: a road bike, a cross/gravel bike, a mountain bike and a city bike.
His love for cycling began in his youth when he followed the Tour de France during holidays in France, and his first road bike - a Union in Rini Wagtmans livery - was given to him by his parents. He later raced at amateur level himself.
Although Edwin does not have a specific favourite cycling race, every year he eagerly looks forward to the start of the cycling season followed by the Giro d'Italia. He likes to identify with Tom Dumoulin, inspired by the book *Op gevoel* he received for Father's Day.
Going on a cycling holiday with no fixed destination seems like a nice challenge to Edwin, just cycling to where the wind takes him. In his spare time, he enjoys a leisurely ride, alone or with a group, and he also likes being at home and messing around. In addition, he can greatly enjoy cosy outings including good food with his wife and children.
Edwin's passion for precision, his experience with cycling, and his positive energy make him a valuable teammate on the FFWD team.
