Confidence in your equipment does not come automatically. It is the result of years of development, experience and decisions that reinforce one another. That is exactly what Get Confident stands for to us.
For FFWD, it is not just a slogan, but a way of working. For 20 years, we have been building wheels with the same conviction: a wheelset should not only perform well on paper, but above all inspire confidence on the bike. During a fast race, a long training ride, on rougher surfaces, or in the final kilometres when fatigue starts to kick in.
That, to us, is the essence of wheel performance.
Wheel building starts with the basics
A good wheelset does not happen by chance. It starts with a carefully considered combination of construction, balance, and reliability. Weight absolutely matters, but never as a goal on its own. We build wheels that are highly competitive in terms of weight, without compromising on quality and long-term durability.
Behind those choices is a team that works every day on the development and further refinement of our wheels. With years of experience in the cycling industry combined with our own involvement as active riders, we have a strong understanding of what is happening in the market and what truly matters to cyclists.
You feel that on the road. A wheel should not only feel light and fast, but also offer stability and control as the load increases. That is where confidence begins: when, at speed, you notice that your equipment remains calm and predictable, allowing your full attention to stay on the ride itself.
The same philosophy, applied across disciplines
Whether it is road, gravel, triathlon, track, or other performance-driven applications, our starting points remain the same. In every discipline, we look for the same balance between efficiency, stability, and durability.
The application may differ, but the philosophy behind it does not. That is also reflected in the way we look at our products. We do not distinguish between a wheel for professionals and a wheel for consumers. The same wheels trusted by professional riders are also available to every dedicated cyclist or triathlete.
No hidden pro-only version, but one consistent level of quality for everyone. That makes our approach direct and transparent. What works at the highest level should also be available to the rider who wants to benefit from it personally.
Developing through real-world experience
At FFWD, wheel development does not come from engineering alone, but also from practice. Insights from teams, athletes, partners, and service all play a role. It is not only about speed, but also about control, handling, durability, and how a wheel performs under prolonged stress.
That combination of engineering and practical experience helps us keep refining our products. Sometimes that happens through material choices or construction methods, and sometimes through small details that barely stand out on paper, but make a very real difference on the road or in competition.
That is exactly why feedback is so valuable. Not because it confirms what is already good, but because it shows where further gains can be made. In that way, development never becomes a theoretical process, but one driven by real use. And that has been an important part of how we work for 20 years.
Confidence does not stop after purchase
For us, good product thinking does not end the moment a wheel is sold. A wheel must remain properly serviceable, even many years later. That is why we find it important that spare parts remain interchangeable and available over the long term.
If a rider experiences damage or any other setback, our fast and flexible in-house service department in the Netherlands ensures that. In many cases you can be back on the bike within just a few days. That too is part of confidence: not only in the performance of a wheel, but also in the certainty that you can move forward again quickly.
That is also part of performance for us: not only how a wheel rides, but how well it continues to be supported.
Confidence as the end result
Ultimately, confidence is the result of everything that comes before it. You feel it in a wheelset that, in all conditions:
- Responds predictably
- Remains stable at higher speeds
- Continues to perform consistently
- Creates less doubt and more focus on riding
That makes confidence anything but abstract. You notice it when your equipment does exactly what it is supposed to do, without demanding your attention. And that is exactly what we mean by Get Confident.
Looking forward
This way of thinking and developing is reflected in everything we do: in our products, in our collaboration with teams and athletes, and in the choices we make across different disciplines.
In the coming blogs, we will explore this further. Through technology, applications, and partnerships that show how this philosophy works in practice.
Get Confident remains the common thread throughout. Not as a distant promise, but as something that should be tangible every time you get on the bike, just as it has been for the past 20 years.
